|Our mission is to provide a family atmosphere which will allow members of our community to learn to their utmost potential, in a warm, supportive environment. We, the unified Heuvelton community, are dedicated to developing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for our students to be successful, contributing members of our society.|
I've created a GoogleSite for my classes where parents & students alike can find anything & everything about my World History class at Heuvelton. Click anywhere on these two sentences to be taken to that site.
My name is Dwight Stevenson, and I'm thrilled to be a part of the Heuvelton Central School family! I'll be in the high school teaching World History & Geography, advising/coaching mock trial, and advising the class of 2017.
I arrived in Heuvelton via Syracuse University where I earned a BA, summa cum laude, in History and a MS in Secondary Social Studies Education. I bring my love of Syracuse Orange Athletics with me to the North Country, as well as the myriad of skills for the classroom and beyond that I learned while at Syracuse.
My classroom will be a challenging and supportive space where students will experience success. Student success will be driven by a commitment to our classroom motto and mission that support the greater mission of the Heuvelton Central School.
Ad Astra Per Aspera is our classroom motto, and literally translated means to the stars through hardship, but may be loosely translated as Excellence through effort. Our classroom mission is To learn everyday and always give our best. Students will be expected to live the mission and motto each time they pass through the door.
I look forward to preparing all the students of the Heuvelton Central School for success in the classroom and in the world. Should you have any questions feel free to contact me via email.
